He used the .457 LANCER 275 grain big bore bullet to help a neighbor eradicate some hogs. Mikael said, “I finally got my first hog yesterday evening. It was a 108 yd shot high up. It went through a rib on entry, clipped the bottom of the spine and a rib on exit. The bullet got caught in the hide on the back side.”
Great Air Rifle Hunting Success
Good Job. A great shot at that 108-yard distance. The hogs were destroying a newly planted hay field with a wheat cover crop. The wheat had grown tall and was about ready to be harvested, making for a high shot placement. Mikael could only see the top of the hogs as they progressed through the field.
If you look closely at the carcass, you can see the marks on the bullet’s bearing surface as it exited the barrel leaving a significant wound channel. Having a lighter weight bullet allows you to shoot longer distances.
